Hi, Everyone. Next Tuesday is usual curry meal + film. We will be discussing the Banquet which is happening in three weeks. Oh, and why not discuss about Danish Cartoon controversy? Last weeks' discussion about Sharia comment made by the Archbishop of Canterbury was interesting.
James. Can you finalise the time and the room. Plus could you ask Garry to make the poster.
Mo. Can you bring my memory stick and "Everything is Illuminated"
Kevin. Can you make a contact with Hindu speaker.
Enrique. If you are attending, could you bring two special funding request forms.
Cheers.
Yoji
Last week's email

Interfaith meeting: film "Devil's playground"
Today we saw the film "Devil's playground" about life of Amish, especially the time when amish teenagers are allowed to mix with the outside world so they can make their own free choice on whether to join the church and stay amish for rest of their lives or leave the church, the film covered the lives and decisions of many amish teenagers. Mo prepared a delicious 3 course curry meal and Yoji got crisps and drinks for the film. 7-8 people attended. We also discussed the agenda for forthcoming Manchester peace week, the multifaith pilgrimage to glasgow, where to visit next week, invciting hare krishnas to teach us cooking etc.

Visit to Sri Harkishan Sahibji
Today at the Interfaith society, we saw the movie "Millions" about the little boy who has visions of many saints and gets a load of money and knows not what to do with it, it was great with all the crisps-chocolates-lemonades, full screen projector, humungous speakers, and all. But real pity only James, myself, Yoji and Kevin turned up to witness it. Then we made spontaneous move to Gurudwara Harkishan sahib on Sherborne street, where we were shown around by members of Sikh Soc and also treated to delicious Langar vegetarian meal of curry and chapati and drinks. We finally had long chat with the granthi (who reads the guru granth sahib scripture) and a committed devotee member of the temple. All in all it was an excellent experience.

8 October: Interfaith Soc. Film night
We're gonna watch a film called "Millions" about an idealistic kid from depressed south Manchester (not the oxford road corridor) who finds a sack of cash by the rail tracks, and has to decide what to do with it. It's a sweet film, showing how the money is perhaps seen with it's true value through the eyes of an innocent child. Munchies will be provided!

Nov 7: Film Night, a multifaith comedy
We watched a multifaith film organised by Oxana. Its called "The mad adventures of Rabbi Jacob". Its IMDB link is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069747/ Oxana writes about it "It is a French comedy from the 1970s. It is about a man who starts off as a French Catholic chauvinist, but then has to disguise himself as a Rabbi and hide in the Jewish community to save himslef and an arab revolutionary. It is very funny and uplifting. "
